Observation, hypothesis, or theory?

1 & 3 could be observations or either could be hypothesis - it depends on the way they were arrived at. If it was an observation or test or race, then clearly its an observation. If it was based on indirect evidence, say the time clock sometime after the race read 9.8 seconds, rather than you observing the race and confirming that the clock worked right and it was the 100 yard and not the 75 or whatever then its a hypothesis. I'm not sure if 2 is a theory. I'd say it is because there is a substantial body of evidence which supports it, but there is also a fair amount that is inconsistent with it - so depending who you talk to its either a moderately supported theory or a strong hypothesis. In common useage, it would be called a theory.
